Women In Hip Hop

Women in hip hop should be treated the same. I feel that if a woman feels that she can be sucessful in the hip hop industry than she should be allowed the same opportunuti and privalleges. However, woman are portrayed in so mny diferent aspects and ways other than men. Women are judged on their hair, weight, skin tone and body type and not because of thier talent. It ws eveident in the video because it showed that lighskinned woman are accepted easier than dark skinned woman.

Women are responsible for safeguarding their deception. People are always judged by how they present themselves. Even though it is unfair that is the world we live in. I believ that if women wee more careful with how they portay themselves in music videos, then they would have a lot more respect in the indutry. I personally have a high rspect for women period. I just feel that women are viewed the wrong way because of how they are used in the music industry.

Public campaigns are both helpful and hurtful to hip hop. Sometimes hip hop campaigs for god causes which portray a positive image on hip hop. However, most hip hop campaigns are seen as an oppurtunity for people to party hard , meet lots of freaky women, drink and do drugs. So i feel that it has both a negative and positve impact on hip hop.

I found this article to be very intriguing. Ii found it interesting why McBride would be afraid of his daughter marryin a "thug rapper". McBride never really gave rap music a chance because he was so into jazz at the time when he first heard rap music for the first time. Even though he grew up around major rap artist, he never seemed to give rap music a chance. In fact, McBride hated rap music. Even with his dislike to rap, he understood where rappers were comming from within their lyrics an songs.

However, I do agree with McBrides analogy of a burning man to hip hop. Rappers told stories through their lyrics begging from the beggining. This allowed their music to get out and soon afterwards their stories turned them into stars.

Freedom to write what u wanna write, but what sells in the Hip Hop Industry today?

Artists are givin the freedom to basically write about anything they wanna write about in a song. I believe that is what makes hip hop so popular and entertaining. However, the business side of hip hop is purely about makin sales to make more money. In today's industry snap music or up beat love spngs seems to be the most popular way to make sales in today's music industry. People wanna dance and make up different variations of routines to songs that have "snap beats". In those instances the lyrics are not really as important to the listener as the beat and hook are. If the beat and hook are dope, artists will make huge sales for about two months. Also, love songs are attractive in the industry still. Love songs has always been the way to caoture an audience and make money in the industry. Fans relate love songs a lot to their personal lives now days. So with all the freedom that being a music artist brings, it is extreamly important to know what sells to the listerners.

Beat or Lyrics....

When i listen to rap music, the first thing that catches my ear is hte beat. For me as a listener ,the beat has to be good in order for me to really sit and listen to the song. Secondly, i listen to the chorus. A good chorus usually means a good song. Lastly, I pay attention to the bars being said throughout the song. I listen for unique comparisons and metaphors. Creative rappers always find a way to make their fans say "whoa". For example, Lil Wayne is a lyrist that always pleases his listeners. His rhyme schemes are so unique and creative I always wanna listen and learn his bars.

Using Hip Hop as an excuse..........

I feel that in todays society parents across the world try to use hip hop as a major reason why their children act certain ways. I feel that this is unfair to hip hop because hip hop is entertainement and not necesarrily a way of life. If children are taught in the homes the right way to view and go abotu life then hip hop would be viewed as entertainment, which what hip hop is. It is not fair to the parents who do teach their children the right way of life and they become sucessful even though their children are involved with hip hop. I believe that parents should ask them selves have they done all they can to prepare their children for life and not just ue hip hop as an excuse.

Who am I?

My name is John Vaughan. I go by "Jv", i have had this nickname since the 8th grade and people rarely call me John unless I'm in trouble. I was born January 4, 1986. I am from Baltimore, Maryland. I grew up in the city for most of my life until my mom decided to move me and my two sisters out to Prince Georges County, Maryland. I have played sports all my life , mainly just football and basketball. I was a standout athlete in high school, and i am currently on a full basketball scholarship. I am majoring in communications. This is my fourth year, but due to a knee injury my sophomore year, I will remain here until 2009.
I am an outgoing person who loves to have fun but also be smart in certain situations. Although I come from a very tough lifestyle which most would call "ghetto", I am adaptable to various personalities and ethnicities of my peers. I am a hard worker and I really enjoy coming to class every Monday night and expression my opinions, but at the same time also listening to others opinions also. This is who i am in 2 paragraphs.
